OUR TRIP

 

The highlights of our trip were seeing family and friends again, visiting places like my sons' old school and our old neighborhood. Our old home is gone and an open lot remains.

Celebrating my mother's birthday with family and friends was indeed a highlight! Visiting beautiful parts of the island for dinner or seabathing was wonderful.

Just driving through the city on a quiet Easter Sunday was a revelation that although there are many new buildings, the old buildings with their different architectural styles still are very beautiful.

On an island where security seems to be a problem, the beauty of "home" lay in its welcoming shores and the tropical floral splendour. In spite of this underlying fear, the true warmth of old friends and their hospitality and wonderful family gatherings reinforced the fact that as Trinidadians, we were once again leaving the land of our birth.
